Weird Animals & a lot of TCB

Long eared jerboa...mouse-like rodent found in China & Mongolia

Hispaniolan solenodon..teeth capable of delivering venom..found in Haiti & Cuba

Star-nosed mole with 22 fleshy tentacles to identify food..found in North America!

I'm not a big fan of Elvis Presley...don't shoot me, please....but I loved the name of his back-up band....TCB. That's what I've been doing while being absent from the blogger world. Takin' Care of Business. Add a "Y" and I could really enjoy one of those frozen delights!

I stumbled across some of these weird animals that inhabit our planet. Let me tell you...if I found this mole while digging in my garden, that would be the end of me! It truly amazes me what lives right here on earth with us...some super cute and others that make us run in the other direction. I know these little darlings exist but has anyone ever seen one?

OMG, the first one is really cute, but I am horrified of that Star-nosed mole, looks like something out of John Carpenter's The Thing.

Hi Alicia :D
So good to see you back!

The first two are adorable, although probably not so adorable if they are inhabiting your home...LOL

The mole...well, he is just repulsive! LOL Yuck! I don't like him :(
Bye-bye mole!

Hmmmm...faces only a mother could love. The top one is cute-ish...but still rodentia...a rat with good PR. The middle one? I think dated a kid that looked just like him in high school...I think he came to a bad end. The bottom one wouldn't be near so repulsive if it didn't look so...moist. One of our dogs is a mole terminator...we find them lying in various states of, ahem, "dishabille" all over the yard. She's found one or two of these, but they aren't nearly so imposing after Maggie's had her way with them.

Great post!
Hugs!

Ooooo . . . that last one really freaked me out. If I found one like that in the garden, it would take me a long time to talk myself into going back to the garden. Gives me the shivers - poor thing can't help what he looks like.

I thought all of these were cute - but I wouldn't want them anywhere near me! :)

The mole looks more like a plant than an animal.
Weird!

I don't think I would be thrilled to encounter poor mole. He looks like a furry sea creature!
Amazing things, right under our noses.
And look... they all have amazing noses!
Does give one pause.

No I am not a huge fan of Elvis either, but living in Tennessee everyone else is! I think I know all his songs by heart at this point, It seems Elvis's music is playing everywhere!

NOT liking those critters, I hope I can sleep tonight...thanks Alicia!

I have to admit that I'm fond of most types of rodents - we had 2 pet rats at one point and they are quite affectionate little pets. I think moles are cute too(the regular kind not the scary one you have pictured) I think that comes from reading Wind in the Willows as a child. Mole and Ratty are two of my favorite characters.

Hi Alicia

does that mole have a face or is he all nose...pretty scary to bump into one of those - with the claws too, but then he would probably smell us way before we detected him...

Happy days
