Wasting time...

The air outside is crisp and the weather cooling. Fall is here. That lead me to wonder where did summer go? Is it just me or did it seem to fly by in a flash? Time is something that we can't go back and recover...it just keeps marching forward and we had better keep up. I was reading an article online where it listed the top five reasons for wasting time.
  1. Television. Now I can honestly say this is not one of my downfalls. We rarely watch TV as we have a subscription to Netflix. Scheduled movie time..and not very much unless we want to relax.
  2. Commuting. That's a super easy one that doesn't fit the bill here either. Living in a small town and working online means not sitting in a car for an hour every day.
  3. Lack of skill. This was a bit humorous to me as I rarely tackle something that I don't understand what I'm doing. I certainly am not going to attempt tiling a bathroom when I know it isn't my forte.
  4. Being tired. Now we're getting somewhere. Seems that if we're tired, we don't perform to our maximum capacity. Oh yeah, this one hits home. I have a tendency to work when I'm tired, wasting time trying to perform when I'm physically unable to operate at my full potential. I hear naps calling me!
  5. Internet browsing. This is a biggie for me. Running an online business, I spend the majority of my hours in a day on the internet. Not really wasting time as it is for work, but I do get side tracked at times. Let me correct that...LOTS of times!
I can't retrieve those lazy summer days but it sure makes me think about how to use my time wisely for the fall season that is upon us. What's your biggest time waster?

I've been thinking about how I spend my time too -- it always seems like there's so much, and then I get to the end of the day and wonder what I've done with myself. I keep resolving to make better use of my time, but getting out of a comfortable routine isn't easy!

Very wise my dear...time is truly so precious, I try my best not to waste it on negativity...so over it! Wonderful new week, tick-tock-tick-tock...

Id say probably messing around on the internet...although its usually for good reasons....sure I do the bloggy thing and thats something that I HAVE to do....but the rest of the time its doing something pertaining to our new online store...other then that I dont really think I do much thats wasting time.

Def reading blogs and looking at inspiring photos on Flickr.

I love your new header!
I find that I get easily distracted from what I'm doing by beautiful headers - like your new one Alicia!!! Love, love it. Lots of room to let one's imagination fly in that scene. Who is the painter?

I have to agree with you Alicia, precious time is slipping away! If I was drunk i would sing this line by Van Morrison right now! hehe! Thanks for the sweet comments! Love hearing from you! By the way the internet has turned me very lazy like in terms of doing anything else. My place is a tip at the moment yet here i am, blogging!

I think there are good wastes of time (watching a sunset, going for an extra long run) and bad wastes of time (commuting, pointless arguing). I've spent so much time over the last few years being incredibly efficient -- I relish wasting a bit of time these days!

Guilty as charged! I started to write a blog about that the other day, but decided to procrastinate some more on that one. :p) And fatigue, oh, yeah. Yawn! What? Oh. Sorry, I have to get off this internet and back to my writing. Thanks for the goose.

your blog looks beautiful!

i am a big time waster. internet, tv, sleeping, etc. i need to work on that, BIG TIME, AS I AM NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER! humph!
I am almost always going in a hundred different directions, everyone needs something from me. I have very little time to waste but when I do, it's being so tired and still trying to work - takes me twice as long to accomplish what I am trying to do. Then, of course, the internet although it's truly mostly related to work and networking. If anyone has some spare hours in your day, could I buy them please? :)

Hi Alicia

I spend a lot of time on blogging but don't view it as a waste of time as I think that to fill that category it would have to be to the detriment of the remainder of my life ... and in fact it is the opposite that is happening...my life is richer...

Happy days

I have to admit that my greatest time waster is reading...if I allow myself to buy a new book, that's it, I'm immersed. I spend a ton of time online, but it's mostly doing research for my business, scrounging up purchases, checking on stuff I have listed, etc. I started blogging, but I can easily get immersed in writing as well.

I've been working toward this for the past couple of months, but since tomorrow is a milestone day in my life, I've given myself one year from tomorrow to turn this jewelry thing into a full-time income...otherwise, my happy bum is going to have to go back into the harsh, cruel, real corporate world for the almighty buck. You know, the one that requires a "wardrobe" rather than sweats or jammies, where I have to commute 1 hour each way and become physically & emotionally dependent on a cell phone during that 2 hours of down time. I don't wanna go! (kicking & screaming)

So, I guess I won't be doing much reading any time soon. I'll let you know how it turns out...LOL

Hugs!

I don't think I waste time. I'm just slow getting things done ;-)

Lazily,

ps. I got your summer, right here
I suppose it depends on how one thinks time is wasted. Sometimes I think I waste time watching tv...but then that is the time for me to wind down so it is something that I need and want to do.

Personally, I don't feel there is such a thing as wasting time...all of it is precious, we just need to know how to recognize the little things in time.

#2, #4 and #5 would be the major time waster in my life.

This was really interesting.

I'm so guilty of numbers one and five, that I'm going to run around the corner now and hide my face....

#'s 1, 3 , 4 , 5. I don't commute, but I do go to the grocery store, or I should say stores. I'm on a specials binge and so I travel to the three stores in my area to buy things to put in the freezer. It feels wonderful! I often do things I don't know how to do, that's how I learn how to do them. I don't watch a lot of TV, but I can get dragged into political talk. Tired, the story of my life and the internet, well I guess I'm here, so that answers that! Wasting time is a blessing that I turn into a curse after I have enjoyed it. I then tell myself, bad, bad, bad!

I love the header.
first .. I love the new Blog picture.. very nice! I am sorry that I suffer from a few of those reasons.. the commute one ties in with tired..I have to get up so dang early to get to work 23 miles away at 6:30am.. and in a heavy commute area.

Yes.. the summer did go by in a flash!

being disorganized. I waste so much time trying to find where I put this or what I did with that it is crazy. Especially because before I had a kid and my own business I was the opposite of what I am now.

My biggest waste of time unfortunately is the computer, one thing always leads to another when I am on it, but I have to say in my defense I sure learn a lot!

I love your new blog header...the picture is just perfect!
