It's Ferret Friday!

Photo of baby ferrets taken from a rescue site

I've owned a ferret or two and they were just the best little critters. Couldn't resist this adorable picture of these cute kits. Hope your weekend isn't this squished!

Oh, my goodness. What cute babies! I've never owned a ferret, but I used to work/play with them when I was the Llama lady at Moody gardens... way back when. They were so much fun. I enjoyed every minute I had with them.

Like little Maltese puppies, except longer... & with pink noses... & squintier eyes... and bigger feet.. & wait, the ears... oh never mind, they're just adorable, & that's enough.

I've never seen a baby ferret before. Pretty cute, and I'd better hope my kids don't see... they want one of everything for a pet these days :)

I guess it's better late than never getting a comment in...

These remind me of the three monkeys that you used to see with the "Hear No, Speak No, See No Evil" sign under them!

I've been acquainted with a ferret or two in my day...as a distant relative, not a parent... I think they're best described as overactive furry slinkies with kleptomaniac tendencies! A friend of mine had one that was nothing but pure energy and entertainment! A precocious bundle of piss & vinegar that would go insane with the simplest of toys...a blown up balloon. It would chase it from one end of the room to the other, alternately dragging it by the neck or pouncing on it from above...it would lay on it's back and batter it with his feet or fold himself in half and walk sideways at it, as if stalking its prey. This little guy would steal ANYTHING shiny and hide it in the underside of the couch...he also had a penchant for wallets, keys & tupperware lids... If you finally got tired of things missing and raided his stash, he would sit up tall & indignant and cuss at you in "ferret-speak." If you were upset or crying, he would very quietly sneak up next to you and wind himself around your neck, then reach up and pat your tears...endearing & aggravating, a comic and a cad...they are just the greatest little faux rodents!

Darling critters!
Hugs!
Terri

Love the ferrets but was astounded and blown away by the story of your house told below.
This would make an amazing short story or longer essay
you could tell all the thrill of discovery and transforming a much loved
house into another much loved house.

We bought our house on Long Island from the widow of an artist
we are still friends with her though she is now 93.
She wanted us to have it because my husband is a painter ....
