Playing in the rain...

It's raining outside today. When I was little I used to go outside and play in the rain..jumping in puddles, splashing, sticking my tongue out to catch the raindrops as they fell from the sky. I haven't done this in years. What is it that when we grow up, we loose that ability to enjoy some of the simple things. Are we too busy with everyday life to stop and smell the roses every now and then? As an adult, I get wet all the time..take showers, go swimming etc. So why is it that I run for shelter once the rain starts to fall?

I think I'll play in the rain today and rejuvenate my inner child...

Great idea!!! Every once in awhile when its raining and I know IM not going to be going out anymore I will step outside and let it rain on me....it does for the moment take you back in time....when life seemed so much easier...I hope you get to have that moment today sometimes its important to rejuvenate our inner child!!
Good for you! I don't ever want to grow up...

I applaud your bravery and your inner child!!

I still feel like a kid. I crawl around on my hands and knees in my yard, like a child, looking at tiny bugs and plants. I wade into streams if I happen to walk by them, and I begin looking for river life but for some reason, I'm always embarrassed when someone catches me doing any of this. How silly.

I used to love to take my shoes off and jump in puddles when I was little. Now I would be scared of getting hurt...

Ya know...I've considered going out and dancing in the rain...just full of childish enthusiasm...not a care in the world...
Then I look down, picture myself in a wet T-Shirt (ARGH!), the reproachful stares I'd receive from my canine children, and the abject embarrassment I'd cause my 13 year old daughter. I imagine the resultant spike in arthritic activity within my system and the puddles I'd make on the kitchen floor that I'd have to clean up...and just slink back here to my keyboard...just waaay old before my time, I guess...

I think it's the awful feeling off wet clinging clothes! I often get stuck out in the rain and wet clothes and shoes don't leave me feeling nostalgic. : ) Somehow when I was a kid, it didn't bother me. Go out and play in the rain in your bathing suit!

The sight of those puddles still makes me want to go splashing...when my Nick was little we would put on our rain boots and go "puddle jumping". We would get all muddy and have to come home and take a bath.

I love going out for a good old bop in the rain. Actually, I have no choice. In work, we have to take the children out in the rain they really love it, and who could deny a laughing child? So on the welly's go, and we go off jumping like frogs!

I LOVE to play in the rain-Whether it be when I was a child or now. Lol
If I was able to walk, you best believe I would be out in a rain storm!! :D

go for it!!! how fun!!!

my boss just got back from a trip to ireland, and all i could think was DID YOU LAY DOWN AND DO THE LOG ROLL DOWN THE BEAUTIFUL GREEN MOUNTAINS?!?!? i would bet a million that he didn't! :)
I'm a little late to the splashing party, but wish I could have splashed with you. My husband and I went to Six Flags our first anniversary (poor :) ) and it rained. We walked in the rain and had a great time. Probably wouldn't do that now. Good question - why? Too concerned with our looks, comfort, what others think? Or, just always too busy to slow down? Maybe a bit of both. You've inspired me . . .

YEAH! It was pouring here today - I LOVE the rain (I think that is a carry over from my years in Vancouver!). I find it so refreshing and good for the soul! I love to walk slowly in the rain, I tilt my head back and let it splash on my face - it is such a wonderful thing!

I'm curious... did you do it? Did you stick your tongue out & taste the rain? Did your inner child giggle?

What a beautiful picture. I remember those days, playing with my sisters, jumping in the puddles, not caring it was freezing, just happy to be out and free! So wonderful!
Go for it, Alicia, find that inner child...you deserve it!
Have a Happy Day!

Since it doesn't rain her or rain enough to create splashing puddles.
Please have a splash or 2 for me.

Only this afternoon I was reminiscing with a work mate about sprinkles, the slip and slide and all the things that as a kid we did to waste so much water. All of which are now band here due to drought. My kids have need seen a garden sprinkle work.
