When I Grow Up...

"It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart."
Anne Frank

Random question to husband:
Me: What did you want to be when you grew up?

DH: I wanted to be good.

Me: Wait a minute...didn't you want to be a fireman, police officer or cowboy?

DH: Nope...I grew up with the old movies and the good guys always won over the bad guys. So Good always won over evil and the heroes were happier.

What did you want to be?

I wanted to be a film director. Actually, I'd still like to do that although I doubt that will ever happen. But I'm happy with how my life has turned out so it's OK if I never get a chance to direct.

When I was in fourth grade I decided I was going to be an artist. I drew or painted every minute that I possible could because I was determined to be "the best." :-)
I wanted to be an artist. I always loved drawing and painting as a child. I was in seventh heaven whenever I got a new box of the 64 Crayola crayons. Never wanted dolls or toys, just art supplies.
I studied art in college, but never made a career of it. I still enjoy designing and creating, even if it's just a hobby.
That's a lovely thing for a man to want to be! I wanted to be a wife and mother. And I am. Lots of twists and turns in the road of life though! But God is good!

I always wanted to be an artist. I also wished I could go back in time and live in those old movies...still do, Pam
Wow, your husband is the greatest! Sad to say, but I do not remember wanting to be anything in particular when I grew up. Maybe I just enjoyed being a kid too much to even think about it!

I love a straightforward answer. When I was little, I hated that people assumed I wanted to be an artist because I drew all the time. I really wanted to be a Speech Pathologist.
Slightly ironic.
